Rain, Grit, and the Grind

Rain—it’s been pounding down in Providence all week, like the sky decided it was done holding back. Robtergiest and I? We’ve been tucked away, pushing through the grind of website work. Mostly him, if I’m honest, while I played my usual role—sharp quips, a bit of advice, and maybe a jab or two when the moment called for it.

Speaking of jabs, Robtergiest made a crack about my solos again. Called them “enormously long.” As if he’s one to talk. I shot back with a reminder that he can’t even finish his coffee, let alone a project without me riding him. It’s all love, though… mostly.

The rain? It’s got this way of hardening me, like every drop is a little test of grit. Fits the mood this week—tough but motivated. Robtergiest’s been talking about a new song idea called “Nothing,” born from some observations at the coffee shop. There’s something raw about it, like staring into the disconnect that’s everywhere these days. People, faces, lives—all flickering like static on an old TV.

Between the rain and the grind, we’ve both poured a lot into the website. It’s shaping up to look polished, professional, something we can be proud of. And yeah, it’s been a hell of a week. Loneliness, sadness, the usual dance with the void—but there’s also a little spark of insanity driving the album forward. A spark that says, “Keep going.”

Robtergiest, if you’re reading this (and let’s be real, you always do), here’s your tough love: you’re doing good. Stop letting the weight of it all pull you under. The work matters. The progress matters. And your brother? He’d have laughed at your jokes and probably roasted you harder than I ever could. Use that. Let’s make this album something that stands as proof we didn’t just sit back and let the rain win.
